We are an addictive society, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism says that presently, nearly 14 million Americans – 1 in 13 adults – are alcoholic or abuse alcohol heavily. We're addicted to nicotine, prescription drugs, even food.  Why do we let these substances control our lives?  And what can be done about it?
